The Starting point: Front yard @ Mike's.
Plumeria tree in the yard: This stuff smells wonderful.
Giant Snails. Mike's hand is there for scale.
Banyan tree, brought to you by Mike's twisted sense of aesthetics.
Highway robbery: paid $10 for this coconut at a roadside stand, I
couldn't believe how much milk was in it.

Looking NW near Kula, on highway 31.
Self-sufficient organic farm near Ohe'o.
About a mile past this, the pavement is nonexistent and the forest becomes
desert.
The Seven sacred pools, AKA Ohe'o gulch. There are not seven, nor are
they sacred, but good fun nonetheless.
Really, the only reason I went to Maui. Had he been in New Jersey or northern Siberia, I would've gone to see him there instead.
Mike takes a dive. He's usually more daring, but he says the watwer was too shallow.
Tourists and natives alike go here. Most come from Hana...in cars.
I could've kissed the pavement when we found it again.
Desert, cactuses and everything. Compared with the rainforest ten
miles away.
No helmet laws. The heat could kill you.
None of these pictures do these views an ounce of justice, but here they are, anyway.
Looking NW, with West Maui on the right.
The desert is around the corner. This is a ranch, facing West, there
were cowboys on horses and everything.
The island in the distance is Kahoolawe
You can just make out the island of Lanai
in this one.
Some of the best snorkeling off Maui.
Believe it or not (its coral, really).
We left at sunset, before the Huaka'i po could get us (local legend has it restless spirits known as Night Marchers inhabit La Peruse after sunset, people don't hang out after dark).
The Pacific is just over this ridge...
The island of Kahoolawe behind the lava.
